Finally: The secret tourist attractions, Amsterdam

The Reijsmuseum with Rembrandt and others, the Anne Frank Huis to explore the origins of her diaries, the Bijenenkorb, which allows one to wonder from one to the next expensive luxury brand, … all of these have to be visited to gain a personal view upon the city, however, they are listed in numerous travel guides and are usually crowded with other people including older people, school classes and tourists from all around the globe. So why not trying to see some different sites which are not too famous or suspiciously been visited by your fellowers?! As I have mentioned before, I have been in Amsterdam a couple of times and showed around a lot of my friends who, I think, got superb impressions. I shall share with this post, so you can refer back to it, if wanting to avoid the others. It’s majorly chronologically set up and subheaded to bring some structure into it.

The Nemo was my first destination. For free, you can walk up the science museum and have an incredible view above Amsterdam. Up there, only three people had the privilege to see the city at bright day light at about 10 a clock in the morning. On the map, it first seems rather far off the centre, though, the walk along the river is definitely worth it! I took a bike with me, so it would be quicker to hop from one destination to the next.

If you stay in Amsterdam, you are also able to rent bikes. I can recommend ‘Mac bike’ to the right of yours, when you come out of the train station. Staff is friendly, prices are affordable.

On my little plan, it would say the Gallery Rademakers next, though, the weather made me change my plans as my legs are still white like the face of a Geisha and the Centrum was like a magnet pulling me, the negative pole to its site. Though, I think a visit, especially at uncomrfotable weather conditions, is worth it. You will find more information here.

Second destination:
There is not too much to say about it. Too many shops crowded in the two roads which seem endless, when walking down them. They did not disappoint me as there were a few shops I knew about from other blogs. Weekday looked absolutely different to the shop in Hamburg. Spread across three floors, men and women interested in sales from Cheep Monday to  Christophe Lemaire, the buyer is forced to widen his eyes, just as it happened to me. The building floors are connected with old stairs surrounded by ‘stuckbesetzten’, white walls. It reminded me much of the sets of Made in Chelsea.

Monki was my next destination. The spacey looking shop with round bulb like lamps covering the ceiling was almost more inspiring the clothes offered. Though, for very low prices, a range of adorable, fancy clothes caused me to take about a million photos.

Saloon
Not only the old-fashioned, pharmacy interior design with an unjaded light putting something like a shimmery blanket above the atmosphere caused me to come a third time to the shop. I have spotted three shops on my way through the streets. The lady transitioned me into a phase of relaxation as she applied a face mask upon my face and treated me with a free hand peeling. It was still the beginning of the day, so it just started me off in the perfect stage.
Sometimes I do wish I was a man. The dandy look always looks so solely and special... Shoebaloo may be a destination for those who want to go for it!
However, another break was necessary as my stomach felt empty. To keep the purse filled, I decided to have a snack from Albert Heijn and sit down at the Grachten, the perfect spot to snap some people and follow your thoughts, while looking down in the green, unfortunately, rather dirty water of the river. Sitting on the pavement, a refreshing drink was taken right next to Amsterdam University, hence, allowing everyone I posted in Amsterdam Streetstyle to be part of Uniquepa.

Next stop: The Nine streets
Fortunately, I passed by the web organisation team on the streets who directed me into a groundfloor show room. The most casual atmosphere ever experienced and the friendly service, especially the main organisator quirky and fit into the eloquent, endlessly varied and eclectic style, mostly stuffed with neon colours as well as over expensive basics. (Unfortunately).

Redirected from there, I cycled to the Huidenstreet, which was almost my last stop already. Too many overwhelming, homely and stylish shops filled with broadened brands overtopped my imaginations of the streets. I was there to get to the ‘Beadies Shop’, but was stopped by a lot of obstacles.
Most shops were expensive, not too suitable for my budget, but I think, if more time invested for the thinking process, I would have bought, one or another piece to extend my wardrobe.
So to begin with: Pina

Luckily, we passed by fabrio, which had everything reduced down to 30 euros. Trousers with a blastodisk triggered me to open and close my purse about five times, having come to the conclusion, that those would rather go with longer, skinnier legs, owned by people who would be lucky not to gain weight when eating most calorie rich food.- I am not one of those, so I refused to put myself in the situation of letting the trousers hang in my wardrobe. However, even I did not buy anything, I loved the style offered. Neon colours were obviously the main contribution to basics as well as some more outgoing pieces.

Before I would storm into the ‘Beadies shop’ another coffee was necessary. For low prices, alcohol, coffee and most basic food is served for low prices in the Goodies. From the chairs upon the pavement, those who would be able to afford the clothes in the mentioned shops could be perfectly observed and allowed me to calm down and gain some ‘fingergefuehl’.

Because Beadies beats all you imaginations! It is like a castle for a creative hand like mine, unrivalled access to all sorts of pearls, a table crowded with stuff being handmade by the shop runners, and the allowance to be so spontaneous of what should fill your bracelet. There is a similar shop to this, namely Copenhagen, which was, compared to this one, rather disappointing as it did not offer the same atmosphere. Nevertheless, the result is the same.

Now heading back to the train station, where the trip would not end just yet. I planned to go to the famous, Dutch bar ‘Café tabac’, where the Dutch society meets and greets. It is similar to a pub, just situated on the streets. Whether you are lucky to get a seat does not really matter. The bar extends down the street, depending on how many people enjoy their beer or glass of white wine in the sunshine. Unfortunately, I was no longer allowed to sit at the river side with my glass, though, not looking at the water allowed a glimpse at more people, featured in Amsterdam street style. Here, I experienced the locals, the so called ‘working-class’.

My next stop was not only a change in location, but rather a twist in extremity concerning the living standards (and prices). At ‘café tabac’, a port would cost 3 euros. At the Skylounge in the Hilton, this price was tripled. Though, I said to myself, you only life once :D and bought the cocktail worth 15 euros. The grey goose mix was topped up with an excellent view upon the city, much nicer than the one from the Nemo, and the ones around me showed their effort to attract some widening eyes. It is possible to go up there without having a drink or food, though, as I have been to other bars like this, I wanted to carry on the tradition up here.

Skylounge at the Hilton

My dear friend. I know I promised you not to upload a single picture of you. However, this works like a diary and I do not want to stand here like a loner. Thank you assistent, having accompanied me throughout the first trip in the Uniquepa blogosphere.

Try it! No matter how many calories, after a couple of hours in the city, this is the most relaxing treat you can ever do to yourself! Swirl ice-cream, just across the trainstation.

Now in conclusion, I know, this post is long. Nevertheless, for those who want to experience a different site of Amsterdam or have not yet been there, may want to follow some directions from this post. I would have found it rather helpful as I researched a lot about it before, but none was like this, all clumped into a 1400 word essay.

Below are some more addresses you may be interested in. I have not personally been to some of them, though, they may bring a spur of interest in your minds when you research a little more about them.
